PiYo Live in Chestertown

I’ve been so fortunate to teach PiYo Live for the past 3 years. I found PiYo through my Master Coach/Trainer Vanessa Head, after I signed up to take a Turbo Kick instructor course with her.

After a few years of teaching Zumba Fitness (celebrating 6 years in May!), I became hungry for more. I wanted to offer something different and exciting to my fitness class students.

PiYo Live (at the time PiYo Strength) fit that bill — you build flexibility, strength, and balance without jumping, jarring the knees, or destroying your body.  Cardio and strength building in one class?! I was sold on this concept.

Favorite Things About PiYo Live

1) The atmosphere in class. We have fun. We work hard, but we have fun. There’s a little celebration when someone reaches a personal goal (tippy-toe push-ups, for example). We help each other out and look forward to spending a “social active” hour together, 2-3 times a week.

2) Building strength and flexibility. This class is, hands down, the reason I feel so strong and confident. There are many variations to each move, so this class meets you where you are and then encourages you to keep building.

3) Noticeable improvement. I’ve never experienced results as quickly with any other group fitness class. What’s your goal? On-the-toes push-ups? Holding a plank? Increased hip flexibility? We work on all of these elements consistently in PiYo, so you’ll be able to see achievable results in no time! And, because of the group fitness environment, I’ll be there to push and encourage you every step of the way.

4) Finding beauty in movement. Some of the moves we perform in our PiYo Live classes are just downright beautiful. Think long lines, amazing flows, and power. We take our time so you can be the master of the movement that works best for you!

I really love teaching this class. I love seeing the moments of triumph when students hit their goals and marks, and I love creating an atmosphere of acceptance and accountability. I work to vary the movements between classes, but we have a few movements and forms that we visit consistently in class, so there’s a chance of seeing improvement.
