I started blogging in March 2010 in an effort to capture and catalog all of the fascinating information I was learning about local foods, and to document my daily adventures in homesteading, eating to fuel exercise, teaching group fitness, and finding the sweet in others.

Fast forward to 2023 – I’m podcasting, offering group fitness classes, fitness events, private group classes, and more!

My interest in food stems from my interest in fitness; when I started taking Zumba fitness classes to get in shape, I realized that I needed to refuel with better food choices to improve my performance. I noticed it even more when I started running, and training for a half marathon.

Food is energy, food is life. I recognized that I had the opportunity to nourish my mind, body, and soul with smart food choices, namely with local meat and produce. Learning more about local eating has definitely been an adventure, and I’m excited to share it with you!

For me, living a “fit” lifestyle includes physical fitness, food that tastes good and fuels fitness, and ideas/conversations that fuel my mind.

I grew up in a suburban household with traditional values. It wasn’t until college, when I started this process of “un-learning” that I started to think critically about my environment. Where does your food come from? is the question that started it all…
