Coffee Talk Tuesday #21

Welcome to the weekly chat where I spill my guts and try not to spill my coffee. That would be very sad.

Hi, friends! It’s only been a week, but feels a little like an eternity. Know how that goes?

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I attended a fun heart-opening yoga workshop this weekend! I love workshops because you get a chance to repeat a move, vs. a class where you see the move once and move on to the next thing. (which is one of the reasonsĀ I’m SO excited for this new TurboKick format that I’m sharing TOMORROW – you get to really dig deep into the movements to ‘get’ them). I regularly practice backbends and heart openers, so most of it was a review, but it was a great chance to see someone else perform and explain the movements.

Especially as an instructor, I learn SO MUCH when other people share movements and combos with me — I enjoy hearing how they share it and pick up some great tips for my classes, too.

This workshop encouraged me to move forward with planning one of my own! I love the format of workshops, and I think I’d really love leading one! Stay tuned for more on that.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I’m super excited for our one year wedding anniversary trip this weekend! We’re heading to Charlottesville for a few days, and spending a full day playing in Shenandoah. The intention is to hike Old Rag, and I’m super stoked.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I created the opportunity to make lists of my “ideal job/work” as it aligns with our office’s mission. I have so many skills and the tendency to say yes to every task, regardless of whether it falls in my “job description.” I’m solution-driven and a queen at tasks, so I’ll often get handed random assignments. This is great, because the work gets done, but that shifts my focus, and even doesn’t let me really have a focus (and you know that right now I’m ALL about having focus). Even if you don’t have this ability/get this opportunity within your office, I highly recommend this exercise of creating your ideal position. It brings to light the areas that you identify as “needed” for your organization and also highlights your true interests. When you can match interests and abilities with mission and goals, BAM, you’ve got a winner.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I recently purchased 4 work-related/communications/marketing books and CANNOT wait to dive into them. Which one should I read first??

SPEAKING OF COFFEE, I’m just a little freaking out over the newest Gilmore Girls trailer. Cancel all November 25 plans, this is serious BITNESS. Have you seen it?!?!

That’s what’s up in my little world, how YOU doin’?
