Coffee Talk Tuesday #115

It’s time! Let’s grab a cup of coffee and chat.

Today’s coffee is dedicated to long hair don’t care, cute boots, and school spirit.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that countdowns are ON —

  • 4 more holiday shifts at Bath & Body — time to retire those reindeer antlers
  • 13 days until we leave for Cuuuuba!
  • 3 more days until my next virtual fit session starts (REGISTER!!!)
  • 7 more group fit classes until the end of the year

This time of year is always hectic, but I love this speed. It’s a little crazy with trying to schedule everything and fit in my daily tasks, but somehow, everything manages to get done.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that in my every day hustle, there is one activity where I know I can just be completely present: walking the dog. It sounds silly, but I look forward to this task. Our energetic dog needs to be walked daily — deserves to be walked daily — at a very fast pace. She is so excited when we get ready for a walk, and loves to be outside exploring. It’s such a great time for me, too — I completely disconnect from everything else. I have to pay attention for her, to guard her, to make sure we’re going the right way, getting enough steps to get her to nap, moving at a good pace (though she controls it). I love this time we have together!

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m loving this Forbes article about spending money on experiences vs. things. I’m a BIG fan of gifting experiences. Husband & I gift each other trips for major holidays (cruise to Cuba is this year’s gift!). I like the experience we get from it – and would rather spend my money on this vs. things. Don’t get me wrong — I have a taste for certain items, but given the choice, I’d rather put my money toward a trip or a fitness certification or a house renovation project (husband’s hobby). In the long run, I’m more likely to remember an amazing trip we took vs. a pair of shoes or a cool bag.

We have quite the week planned (next few weeks really — it was strange saying “See you January 7!” to colleagues at the school today), so I’ll leave it at that. See you next time for a special edition Christmas Coffee Chat!
