If we were having coffee together this week, I’d tell you that I’m beyond excited to debut a full series for Coffee Talk! I love a plan and having the next 4 chats outlined is super thrilling. This series follows the agreements outlined in The Four Agreements.

Here’s the plan: 4 total sessions of Live Coffee Talk chats (and coordinating posts) that follow each of the 4 agreements:

  1. Be Impeccable with Your Word
  2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
  3. Don’t Make Assumptions
  4. Always Do Your Best

My favorite way to review books like this is to read and listen. I’m following the audiobook via Audible.

Since I’m introducing a new series, let’s do a quick Q&A:

What is The Four Agreements?

It’s a collection of concepts and ideas can help us realize our full potential as joyful people, and how to remove the weight of other people’s expectations of us.

Why The Four Agreements?

This book digs deep into transformation. It calls you out. It calls all of us out. Every single one of us does every single thing in this book. I promise. We don’t always want to admit it, but we do. We play a part in this collective cultural story that is designed to keep us in check.

To be ALIVE is the biggest fear we have. Taking the risk to be alive is scary. Being ‘ourselves’ is risky. We want to be accepted and good enough for others. We are so afraid that someone will notice that we are not what we pretend to be. We have this collective image of perfection and no one can measure up to that ideal. This image of perfection is the reason that we reject ourselves, the reason that we don’t accept others as they are.

So, what do we do? If you want to live a true life of joy and fulfillment, we have to challenge these beliefs. We have to find the courage to break these arguments that are fear-based and reclaim our personal power.

What’s the goal of this series?

We need a great deal of courage to challenge our beliefs. Even if the rules are wrong, they make us feel safe. We are ruled by fear. Our beliefs have been programmed into us since day one.

When we’re finally ready to start, these four agreements will help us break those rules that come from fear and those rules that deplete our energy. These four agreements will create enough personal power for us to change the entire system of our old beliefs. I want to share these with everyone and help people reclaim their personal power.

Next post: The First Agreement: Be Impeccable with Your word. It’s the most important rule, so that’s why we begin with this one. Your word is the power that you have to create. It is through the word that you manifest everything.
