Coffee Talk #164: The Word of 2020

It’s Tuesday! Grab your cup and join me for a chat.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I’m bouncing back from our long trip to the Western Caribbean. We had such a great week exploring Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel. I loved learning about Belize and zip-lining through the jungle the most! It was the perfect tropical trip and we’re already excited to plan the next one.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that it’s time! This is the final day of 2019. We’re celebrating at home with a house full of pets. We’re pup-sitting and I’m writing this with two pups at my feet while Johnny starts work on a home project. I can’t wait to take them on a nice, long walk later. Let’s see if any of us make it to midnight.

If we were having coffee together today, I’d tell you that I spent a lot of time last week meditating about 2020. I wanted to see if a word or intention would rise to the top. I was not disappointed. Over and over, the word “Launch” kept coming to me. I disregarded it at first, because I’m 10 years into fitness, and 13 years into other professions. Who launches at that time? Me. 2020 is the year of Launch.

Why launch? It kept coming to me. I spent 2019 with the word “priority” and took a hard look at the things I value and the way I want to spend my time. 2019 was filled with travel, fitness, learning new modalities, and saying no to things I didn’t want to do.

In 2020, I plan to LAUNCH:

  • new fitness classes
  • yoga instruction
  • a new home working space
  • new website
  • new fitness services
  • new workshops
  • a new project with the husband
  • hopefully a new address

and more. I’m excited to catapult into 2020 with this refreshed outlook and vision. Does everything have to be NEW in the New Year? No. These are projects that have been buried inside me for as long as I can remember, and I’m using 2020 as a reason to bring them to light. I’m becoming closer and closer to my true self, breaking away from the cages of obligation and expectation. I could almost consider this a re-LAUNCH year.

Speaking of launch – I’m launching a free 21-day group to celebrate the New Year. I’m calling it 2020: Prepare to Launch. Together, we’ll learn how to set a word or intention or focus for the year and we’ll encourage each other to bring our energy and talents to the forefront. Do you know that you have untapped power within you? It’s time to LAUNCH it, in this awesome, free, committed, encouraging group. Join now! We start January 2.

Do you like to set a goal, a word, or an intention for the year? I used to set a long list of goals for the year and then I’d get frustrated mid-year when I hadn’t completed any of them. I find setting a word for the year really creates focus and allows me to be vigilant in my word but flexible in the pursuit. The guiding word allows me to make better choices, say yes to things I love, and no to things I don’t. Bring on 2020!
